in the cusp of yet another birthday, the same question arises! “where has the time gone?” this year was not as productive as last in as far as cycling is concerend. but beware 09, im turning into a poor man with time on his hands to train and no car to drive, thats right! im attempting to do it with no vehicle, there are plenty of people who have no motor neath their wings, im going to try it.

which means im also going to go on my hill country trip, in which im going to ride my bicycle from home to the hill country and back home. im going to make some calls and see if i can get someone’s couch to crash at once there, since im going to be a poor mofo!

so what did the year bring?

1. an appreciation for business and the stress that goes with it.
2. the recipe for true happiness(alone makes the whole year worth having lived), i bet you wanna know what it is. well i figure it’s different for everyone, figure it out for yourself! teehee, thats half the fun..
3. working with j.sager on a pro cycling team(no money, but there are things worth sooooooo much more than money)
4. brought truck toyz from the dinosaur age as fas as web presence is concerned into something that has given me a lot of satisfaction.
5. made 2 new friends! justin james… and diana soto(2 friends in one year is A LOT)
6. said good bye to an old love.. yadira castillo, albeit this one was hard. we’re friends now! and im cool with it..
7. became friends with my ex girlfriend too, lupita and her kick ass lil son axel(thats right.. like rose), made me realize that kids are in my future…
8. finally got aaron and laura to get the hell out of the valley so that i can train in peace!! HAHA
9. had at least one awesome century ride, well actually 2! one with my mtb boys on mikes birthday, and one with the roadies to la gloria! two awesome awesome rides.
10. realized who the cheats who call themselves friends are.. keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer!
11. happy for ana who went and took control of her happiness, she’s doing great in austin, and like me is sorta in the beginnings of something new and awesome..
12. all the peeps who are my friends, steve, farmer, padgett, marty, kelly, santi, chris, frank, peter, mariano, jaime, aron, don… on my birthday tomorrow ill toast all ya’ll!!

this is just for farmer.. the suffering..

it began with not wanting to wake up. of all mornings this one was especially hard, the sleep was just so damn good! but a 5:30 am call to tell me that they are outside my house, should wake anyone up!

so im up.. everyone gets there and we head to brownsville. we stop for breakfast tacos(mistake). because during my 24 hour solo race i was eating potato and egg tacos through out the laps, i figured this wouldnt be a problem, the difference, was that at the 24 it’s not balls to the wall intensity. DOH! hehe.. lesson learned..

the first lap was good, kept with the race leader most of the lap until a gap was created and i just couldnt close it. the race leader was strong! using a big gear the entire time(as craig gordon would say “the dog”). through out the lap i could see he was maybe 20 secs ahead, but the beans were just not there for me to gap! i was tasting that taco too, i could feel it in my throat, so the second lap the race was conceded and my pace was just hard enough to ensure 2nd place! that’s racing for ya..

the race venue itself was awesome! the TMBRA promoters could learn a thing or 100 from that pretty gal i call my friend MERI!

since the local croc’s rep was in town and i wasn’t workin on thurs or friday, justin farmer and i decided to hang out with him, after all that’s the least we could do for a guy who gives us free stuff!! hehe.. thats right steve, we just used you! pinche whore! teehee

chatting about bikes, and bikes and why we like bikes so much and why anyone who doesn’t like bikes as much as we do is a lunatic!

the weekend was fun too, on friday my buddy and i headed to the art walk, where we saw a bunch of well art, but mostly scribbles and dabbles of paint that people want to call art, well who am i to judge right? art to me is this .. in velvet!

but we went to a place called roosevelts something where they had a huge selection of beer, ok 30 something, but thats huge for mcallen.

saturday i did an easy 1.5 hour ride with some friends and chilled out the rest of the day because we were racing on sunday.

what a race! great competition, great course, just a damn awesome time! maybe these helped a bit too! thats how we roll in team mcallen racing baby!! racing margarita’s are now a new tradition! helllzz yeah!

that afternoon went over to a buddies house where a group of family and friends gathered for a bbq, we had another great time! damn.. it just doesn’t get much better than this..

the night rides at mission trails are hardly ever completed without bumping into the critters of the night! those sluts.. haha

as we went through cactus run, a whole family of raccoons scurried all over the place, some to the tree right next to me, some to my left some to my right, some ran in front, it was hilarious and scary at the same time! on the way out of pooh forest there they were again, i think they were illegal raccoons trying to not get busted by the border patrol! LMAO

the ride was awesome, riding with don is always a blast!

ohhhh.. the days off have been awesome thus far! ive got pics to upload of farmer, steve and i having coffee in crocs, see thats called seeding! haha since our croc rep is in town and he hooks us up both now, we have to drop the name CROCS every now and then for the free stuff! im meeting up with my rep later to watch yet another movie!!

ohhhh and farmer being the kick ass dude he is hooked me up with a big ole bag of infinite, since he and i both are into the endurance type ride, just he does em at a much much higher speed, well its prolly a good idea i use the liquid energy! gonna give it a try and seed that shit too!!! if only FERRARI and APPLE and CARMEN ELEKTRA ooooh and ALYSSA MILANO, and the chick from the new vampire show, and BMW MOTORCYCLES and most importantly SPECIALIZED, BIANCHI, TREK, FUJI, JAMIS, and DEAN would product sponsor me!! muahaha
